Also I play games
I'm good at Quake. It's not through some kind of training or practice or some inner knowledge of the working of the game - though I certainly have enough of all of those. I've been pretty darned good ever since I started, mostly because I rarely miss when I shoot things. It's just a trait that's followed me from game to game, and tends to have a major impact on my performance in Quake and Quake-like games. When the game requires me to solve puzzles, I falter. If I need to be stealthy I can usually get by so long as, in the event of being noticed, I have the option of blowing things up real good. Even in Zelda, most of my success is from being able to survive, meaning I can wander around and figure out the puzzles at leisure.
When I play Smash Brothers, I spend most of the time using items - capsules, guns, mines, flowers , everything really - as projectiles. And I'm good at throwing items.
Maybe I'm a hobbit, they have a +1 to thrown items...
